Our Thoughts:
Whilst we all love the sportier models in Patek Philippe’s lineup, this is what the brand is all about. The 5270G-001 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is the first perpetual calendar chronograph watch fitted with an all new in-house Patek Philippe movement, replacing the legendary Lemania ebauche that’s been the fundamental for many of the brand’s manual wounded complications. This watch is a testimony of how Patek Philippe have evolved as a brand, and their confidence in producing grand complications of the highest quality in-house.
What is extra special about this particular iteration is the short 3 years production in the form of the 5270G-001 which was replaced by in 2013 with a slightly different “chin” dial. Although the replacement seems like a mere facelift, there are quite a few subtle changes that modernises the design, and we think that there is so much to love about this particular reference that was only produced between 2011-2013. The blackened white-gold indices and hands on this particular watch is something rarely used in modern watchmaking and it really gives that neo-vintage look that we adore.
