Our Thoughts:
One of the most attractive aspects of the 5140G is the combination of its opaline white dial and white gold case. The understated colour pairing complements the perpetual calendar display particularly well, allowing the watch to remain highly legible despite the amount of information presented on the dial. Combined with its well-proportioned 37mm case, the result is a watch that feels remarkably balanced for such a complicated piece.
Turning the watch over reveals the level of finishing that has come expected from Patek Philippe. The caliber 240Q is decorated with Geneva stripes across its bridges, while the polished screw heads and bevelling demonstrates the attention to detail. Beneath the bridges, the base plate is finished with fine pearlage, further enhancing a movement that has played a significant role in some of Patek Philippe’s most celebrated references.
