Our Thoughts:
At the heart of this rebirth is a collaboration with some of the most revered names in modern watchmaking. The DR001 movement, developed and produced in partnership with La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, is a manually wound tourbillon calibre that channels the spirit of Daniel Roth’s original tourbillons while embracing contemporary watchmaking advancements. The one-minute tourbillon, prominently displayed at 6 o’clock, is a nod to Roth’s pioneering placement of the complication in his original designs. The movement is entirely hand-finished, showcasing Côtes de Genève, polished bevels, and other artisanal techniques that reflect the brand’s dedication to traditional craftsmanship.
The exquisite guilloché dial, a hallmark of Roth’s design language, is handcrafted by the ateliers of Kari Voutilainen, ensuring that the intricate guilloché patterning is executed to perfection, echoing the same artisanal techniques that Daniel Roth employed in his early creations.
Even the typography of the numerals remains faithful to the original 1980s models, reinforcing the tribute to Roth’s iconic design language. Produced in limited quantities, the new Daniel Roth Tourbillon is a testament to his enduring influence on modern watchmaking, honoring both his artistic vision and technical brilliance.
